In the Western tradition, the flower for June is the rose. The rose carries the symbolic meaning of love and beauty. There is an expression that says, "A perfume without roses is like a kiss without lips,
" emphasizing the significance of roses in expressing love. Roses are familiar to us, earning them the nickname "Queen of Flowers."
Among the anecdotes surrounding roses, there is a story associated with the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.
According to the legend, as Aphrodite was making her way to her deeply loved partner,
she stepped on a thorn from a rosebush. The blood that flowed from her foot gave the rose its beautiful and vibrant red color.
The distinctive nature of roses made it challenging to choose an animal that harmonizes with the flower in Korean folk paintings.
However, I thought a rabbit could be somewhat fitting. Since this year is the Year of the Black Rabbit, I wanted to incorporate a black rabbit into the artwork.
